Paper

Yesterday we brainstormed things that we knew were made of paper. Today Mrs. Grant brought out a tub full of various paper products, but didn't mention this fact. The kids quickly figured out that although there were so many different kinds of things, they were all made of paper. But we realized that they had different characteristics and uses. After exploring the types of paper, Mrs. Grant challenged everyone to build a bridge using blocks and construction paper. The challenge was also to be able to drive your toy car over the bridge, without it falling into the "water". We also used pennies to represent people, and had to try and keep our "penny people" safe on the bridge without falling into the water.  We noticed that without any supports sticking out of the "water", that the bridge only held 6 "penny people" before it fell in. Tomorrow we will figure out how to make our bridges stronger- and hold over 100 "penny people"!!!
